WHAT TO DO IN A WORLD OF TEMPTATION?

John 17:15-17 "I pray not that out of the world, but to protect them from evil. They are not the world, even as I am. Sanctify in truth: thy word is truth. "

Maybe if John 17 is one of the chapters that touched me most in the New Testament, we find Jesus praying not only for his disciples, but also for all those who believe in the future, if you want to see more clearly, Jesus prayed that time thinking about every one of those who have believed in his name.

Returning to the passage in John, I have wondered why Jesus prays in the address, the answer is simple, he knew we would be faced, not only now but also leaves us a teaching.

What we face?

certainly century Christian 21, every day is faced with various temptations, too numerous to enumerate, but some of them may be, sexual temptation, consumerism, religion, in short any situation which may make the Christian fall into sin, now in an era that has been called postmodern, in that morality is under attack every day so it has become the standard of this era, "tolerance" we are many Christians sometimes ridiculed for having a position in line with the Word of God, and it is paradoxical that those who claim to be tolerant, not stand for someone to talk about what God wants for their lives, there are tolerance ends.

The picture is not simple, however this was already provided for Jesus and that is referred to in these passages of Scripture, he already knew that the god of this world, or Satan, would be on the lookout, providing all the tools tempt everyone, including those who are children of God and that is why the word also calls us to be alert, do not think that being a Christian you are free from the temptation, however you will be attacked more strongly, and often unfortunately going to yield to it.

But most important is that we still have a way out, the passage concludes "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." , our lives as believers must be founded on truth, and truth to be found in his word, it is true that we live in this world, it is true that we are tempted by the minute, it is true that sometimes we fall into temptation, but it is also true that as we cling to the word of God to his promises, and faith in Christ, we will be much easier to deal with temptation.

Now if at some point in your life has fallen, the same word of truth tells us we have a lawyer and that is Jesus Christ.

The only way to fight temptation is not to follow the current world, but the word of truth, and that is in the Bible.

currents of this world and why not say their "sexy temptations" do not lead to anything, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, follow him to Him

The book of James says , "Submit yourselves therefore to God Resist the devil and he will flee from you" , that's the formula, first submit to God then we can overcome the evil.

Lastly, remember that temptation is not sin itself, the issue is not to accommodate, once we yield to temptation, it becomes sin, as old saying, "We can not prevent birds from flying over our heads, but we can avoid nesting in it "
