Paint Iodine Stain On Wall

Customize the KDE desktop: general options

Leveraging release of version 4.6 of KDE and seeing that there are not many guides on-line to personalize this fabulous desk I will dedicate a series of articles on customizing the look of KDE, focusing primarily on the desktop.

In this first article we als general customization options and what KDE offers tools to facilitate this process.

  • The wallpaper
The wallpaper or wallpaper is one of the factors that affect the general appearance of the desktop and in the time it takes our eyes tired of looking at the screen. To change the wallpaper is as simple as clicking the right mouse button on the desktop and select Desktop Settings .
Using the Get New Wallpapers button direct access to a fund set list sorted by date, popularity, etc (this very useful feature is available in all desktop items). We may also choose if you want a background color, an image or a sequence of images that will be happening in "slideshow."

  • The "theme" of desktop
All items displayed in the KDE desktop (panel, applets, or mini-applications plasmoids ...) can change shape rapidly to suit our tastes.

To change the desktop theme (or theme of plasma) will go to K - System settings - Workspace Appearance - Desktop Theme. In this window you can choose one of the themes already installed, install new themes to Get New Themes button or modify the properties the issue before us like Details tab.

  • window decoration
The decoration is the type of border that have windows, this affects the overall appearance, position and types of buttons and the border thickness.

To change the window decoration go to System Settings - Appearance Workspace - Window decorations, where we can choose a decor that we like, modify the details of the decorations (the button position, thickness of the edge ...) or install new decorations from the button Get new decorations.

Here you can see the final result after changing the items shown in this article:
